One of the highlights is undoubtedly San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, a tiny hermitage perched dramatically on a rocky islet and connected to the mainland by a narrow stone bridge. Leaving the city, the road climbs steadily towards Jaizkibel, one of the Basque Country’s most famous ascents.
