Every year, everyone from professional cyclists preparing for the racing season to couples looking for an unforgettable active vacation chooses Mallorca for its world-class riding and relaxed island lifestyle. Whether you’re dreaming of conquering Sa Calobra, riding to the lighthouse at Cap de Formentor or simply enjoying quiet roads through olive groves and traditional villages, Mallorca offers an experience unlike anywhere else in Europe.
At Live Love Ride, we’ve spent more than a decade designing premium cycling holidays across Portugal and Spain. Throughout that time, Mallorca has remained one of our favourite destinations, not only because of its iconic roads, but because every ride naturally combines exceptional cycling with authentic Mediterranean culture, outstanding cuisine and carefully selected boutique hotels.
In this guide, we’ll share everything you need to know before planning your Mallorca bike tour. You’ll discover the island’s most famous climbs, the best regions to ride, when to visit, what type of bike to choose and how to make the most of your time on one of the world’s greatest cycling islands.

There are very few places in the world where you can climb legendary mountain roads in the morning, enjoy fresh seafood overlooking the Mediterranean at lunchtime and finish the day with a glass of local wine on the terrace of a boutique hotel.
Mallorca offers exactly that.
The island has become one of Europe’s premier cycling destinations because it combines exceptional riding with an outstanding travel experience. Rather than focusing solely on challenging climbs, Mallorca delivers remarkable variety. Within a single day, you can ride through the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana, descend towards hidden coves with crystal-clear waters and finish in historic towns where cafés and family-run restaurants welcome cyclists as part of everyday life.
Its compact size also makes it unique. You don’t spend hours transferring between regions. Instead, every day brings a different landscape while allowing you to return to the comfort of carefully selected accommodation.
For visitors travelling from North America and across Europe, Mallorca is also remarkably accessible. Palma International Airport offers excellent connections, while the island’s cycling-friendly culture, well-maintained roads and respectful drivers make it one of the easiest places in Europe to enjoy a multi-day cycling holiday.
It’s no surprise that everyone from professional cycling teams to recreational riders returns year after year.

Every cyclist discovers something different on the island.
Some arrive dreaming of climbing Sa Calobra or riding to the lighthouse at Cap de Formentor. Others simply want to spend a week exploring beautiful Mediterranean roads at their own pace.
What surprises most visitors is how quickly the riding becomes about much more than the bike itself.
One morning might begin with coffee in the historic square of Pollença before climbing into the Tramuntana Mountains. Another could end with fresh seafood overlooking the harbour in Port de Sóller after a day riding quiet inland roads through olive groves, vineyards and traditional stone villages. These are the moments that transform a cycling holiday into an unforgettable travel experience.
At Live Love Ride, this philosophy shapes every itinerary we design. We believe the best cycling holidays aren’t measured by elevation gained or kilometres ridden. They’re measured by the places you discover, the people you meet and the memories you take home.
One of the questions we’re asked most often is whether Mallorca is only suitable for experienced cyclists.
The answer is no.
Although the island is famous for legendary climbs such as Sa Calobra and Cap de Formentor, Mallorca offers an incredible variety of routes suitable for almost every rider. Quiet inland roads, rolling vineyard landscapes and scenic coastal routes allow recreational cyclists to enjoy the island without tackling its most demanding ascents.
For those seeking a greater challenge, the Serra de Tramuntana delivers some of Europe’s most rewarding climbing. And thanks to the availability of premium e-bikes, couples and groups with different fitness levels can comfortably ride together while enjoying exactly the same journey. At Live Love Ride, we help every guest choose the itinerary and bicycle that best matches their experience, ensuring the focus remains on enjoying Mallorca rather than worrying about the next climb.
The ideal bicycle depends entirely on the experience you’re looking for.
Road bikes remain the natural choice for cyclists wanting to tackle Mallorca’s famous mountain climbs and smooth coastal roads. Riders looking for extra comfort often prefer endurance road bikes, while premium e-bikes allow you to enjoy every climb without sacrificing the spectacular scenery.
At Live Love Ride, we provide premium bicycles that are professionally prepared before every tour. Whether you’re riding a lightweight road bike or an e-bike, our goal is simple: to let you focus entirely on enjoying Mallorca.

Mallorca rewards cyclists with remarkable diversity. In a single week, you can ride dramatic mountain roads through the Serra de Tramuntana, roll past vineyards in the island’s interior, follow spectacular coastal roads overlooking the Mediterranean and tackle panoramic climbs in the quieter south.
Each region has its own personality, and together they explain why Mallorca continues to attract cyclists from around the world.
If Mallorca has a spiritual home for cyclists, it’s the Serra de Tramuntana.
Stretching along the island’s northwestern coast, this UNESCO World Heritage landscape is home to Mallorca’s most iconic roads and climbs. Every ride here feels different, yet they all share the same ingredients: smooth tarmac, spectacular sea views, quiet mountain villages and climbs that reward every metre of effort.
Rather than riding one famous climb and returning to your hotel, we always recommend spending a full day exploring the mountains.
One of our favourite rides begins in Pollença before gradually climbing towards the beautiful Lluc Monastery.
Unlike the dramatic switchbacks of Sa Calobra, the climb to Lluc is steady and rhythmic, allowing you to settle into your own pace while surrounded by pine forests and limestone peaks.
The monastery itself has welcomed pilgrims for centuries and remains one of Mallorca’s most peaceful places to stop for a coffee. Take time to wander through the grounds, refill your bottles and enjoy a coffee before deciding whether to continue towards Sa Calobra or Coll dels Reis.
It’s one of those places where the journey naturally slows down.
No cycling guide would be complete without Sa Calobra.
The famous descent towards the sea, including the spectacular Nus de sa Corbata hairpin, is unlike anything else in Europe. Most riders descend first before turning around to tackle the legendary climb back to the summit.
Although the numbers are impressive, what makes Sa Calobra unforgettable is the scenery.
Towering limestone cliffs, crystal-clear Mediterranean waters and a road that seems almost impossible until you’re riding it.
Arrive early to avoid tourist traffic and spend time by the small harbour before beginning the climb back up. It’s one of those rides that deserves to be enjoyed rather than rushed.
No ride captures the beauty of Mallorca quite like Cap de Formentor.
The road winds its way along dramatic cliffs towards the island’s northernmost lighthouse, offering breathtaking views over the Mediterranean at almost every turn. Rolling terrain, sweeping bends and spectacular viewpoints make this one of the most photographed cycling routes in Europe.
Unlike Sa Calobra, Cap de Formentor is less about one legendary climb and more about the journey itself. Every few kilometres, another panoramic viewpoint invites you to stop, catch your breath and admire the rugged coastline stretching into the sea.
Start your ride early in the morning to enjoy the road at its very best. During the summer months, the peninsula attracts thousands of visitors and can become busy with tourist traffic later in the day. Setting off shortly after sunrise rewards you with quieter roads, cooler temperatures and the magical morning light that makes this ride truly unforgettable.
Take time to stop at the Mirador Es Colomer, one of Mallorca’s most spectacular viewpoints, before continuing to the iconic Cap de Formentor Lighthouse, where the road quite literally reaches the end of the island.
Like the very best rides in Mallorca, Cap de Formentor isn’t about how quickly you reach the finish. It’s about slowing down and enjoying every kilometre along the way.
If we had to recommend one road that captures everything we love about Mallorca, it would be the MA-10.
Leaving Port de Sóller, the road hugs the mountainside as it winds towards Deià and Valldemossa, offering uninterrupted views across the Mediterranean. The gradients are never extreme, allowing you to enjoy the scenery while flowing from one beautiful village to the next.
Places worth stopping
Port de Sóller
A perfect coffee stop before climbing inland. The promenade offers beautiful sea views and plenty of cafés overlooking the harbour.
Deià
Perhaps Mallorca’s most beautiful village. Stone houses climb the hillside beneath the Tramuntana Mountains, while small restaurants and terraces invite you to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere.
If you’re looking for a memorable lunch, Ca’s Patró March, overlooking Cala Deià, has become one of the island’s iconic seafood restaurants.
Valldemossa
Famous for its monastery and beautiful cobbled streets, Valldemossa is an ideal place for a coffee and an ensaïmada before continuing towards Palma or back into the mountains.
Many visitors never realise that some of Mallorca’s finest cycling happens away from the famous climbs.
The island’s central plains around Santa Maria del Camí, Binissalem, Alaró and Consell offer quiet country roads surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and traditional fincas. This is Mallorca at its most authentic.Traffic is light and the roads roll gently through the countryside.
And nearly every village has a bakery or café where locals gather each morning. The Santa Maria area is also one of Mallorca’s best-known wine regions, making it an excellent place to combine cycling with vineyard visits and long Mediterranean lunches.
These routes may lack the fame of Sa Calobra, but many of our guests remember them just as fondly.
Most cyclists never venture into the south of the island. They’re missing one of Mallorca’s finest viewpoints.
The climb to the Sanctuary of Sant Salvador, above Felanitx, is shorter than the island’s famous mountain ascents but no less rewarding. Averaging around 8% over its final kilometres, the road climbs steadily to a historic monastery perched high above the surrounding countryside.
From the summit, the views stretch across much of southern Mallorca towards the Mediterranean, making it one of the island’s most spectacular panoramic viewpoints.
The approach itself is equally enjoyable. Quiet roads connect villages such as Porreres, Felanitx and Santanyí, passing vineyards, almond groves and traditional farms that many visitors never see. It’s a completely different side of Mallorca, less dramatic than the Tramuntana but equally rewarding.
Rather than chasing famous climbs one after anot
her, we’ve always believed the best cycling holidays combine iconic roads with the quieter places in between.
That’s exactly why we created Best of Mallorca – Our Signature Journey.
It brings together the legendary climbs of the Serra de Tramuntana, the breathtaking coastal roads around Deià and Valldemossa, the peaceful vineyards of Mallorca’s interior and the panoramic ascent to Sant Salvador into one carefully curated journey.
Because the very best Mallorca cycling holiday isn’t simply about riding the island’s greatest roads.
It’s about experiencing the island as a whole.

One of Mallorca’s greatest advantages is that there’s rarely a bad time to ride.
Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, mild winters and more than 300 days of sunshine each year, the island offers an exceptionally long cycling season. While many European destinations are limited to a few summer months, Mallorca welcomes cyclists almost year-round.
The best time for your trip depends on the type of riding you’re looking for.
Spring is widely regarded as the finest season for cycling in Mallorca.
Temperatures are comfortable, usually between 16°C and 24°C, the roads are alive with cyclists from around the world and the countryside is at its most colourful. Almond blossoms may still be visible in early March, while wildflowers cover the valleys and hillsides throughout April.
It’s also the period when many professional teams complete their final training camps before the racing season begins, creating a unique atmosphere across the island.
Expect cafés in Pollença, Port de Sóller and Andratx to be full of cyclists discussing the day’s rides over coffee.
Perfect for:
Summer transforms Mallorca into a classic Mediterranean destination.
Long daylight hours allow for spectacular early morning rides followed by afternoons on the beach or relaxing by the pool. Temperatures can exceed 30°C, particularly inland, making early starts essential if you’re planning longer climbs.
Fortunately, Mallorca’s coastline offers plenty of opportunities to cool off after your ride, and many cyclists choose to combine shorter morning routes with leisurely afternoons enjoying the island’s beaches, restaurants and villages.
Perfect for:
If spring is Mallorca’s most popular cycling season, autumn is perhaps its best-kept secret.
The sea remains warm from the summer, the intense heat begins to fade and the vineyards prepare for harvest. Light becomes softer, villages feel quieter and many riders consider September and October the most beautiful months to explore the island.
Road conditions remain excellent, temperatures are ideal for climbing and restaurants become noticeably less crowded than during the height of summer.
Perfect for:
While much of Europe experiences snow and freezing temperatures, Mallorca continues to enjoy relatively mild weather.
This is why so many professional cyclists choose the island for winter training camps.
Although occasional rain is possible and mountain temperatures can be cooler, many days remain perfectly suitable for riding, particularly along the coast and in the island’s interior.
Visitors looking for peaceful roads and a quieter atmosphere often discover a completely different side of Mallorca during winter.
Perfect for:
At Live Love Ride, we operate throughout the main cycling season, but if someone asked us to choose just two periods, we’d recommend April to May and late September to October.
These months consistently offer the best balance of comfortable temperatures, quieter roads, spectacular scenery and ideal riding conditions.
Of course, every traveller is different. Some guests are looking to tackle Mallorca’s legendary climbs. Others want relaxed rides through vineyards and coastal villages with long lunches overlooking the Mediterranean. That’s why we always recommend choosing your itinerary based not only on the weather, but on the type of experience you’re looking for.
If you’re unsure which season would suit you best, our team is always happy to help you choose the perfect departure for your riding style and travel plans.
One of the greatest pleasures of cycling in Mallorca is that every memorable ride can end with an equally memorable meal, a boutique hotel full of character or a glass of local wine overlooking the vineyards. At Live Love Ride, we believe these moments are just as important as the cycling itself. That’s why our Best of Mallorca – Our Signature Journey has been carefully designed to combine the island’s legendary roads with exceptional places to stay, authentic gastronomy and experiences that reveal the true spirit of Mallorca.

After riding the spectacular MA-10 between Port de Sóller, Deià and Valldemossa, make time for lunch at Ca’s Patró March, perched above the crystal-clear waters of Cala Deià. Famous for its fres
h seafood and unforgettable setting, it’s one of the island’s most iconic places to pause before continuing your ride.
If you’re looking for a truly special dining experience, El Olivo, at La Residencia in Deià, combines refined Mediterranean cuisine with one of Mallorca’s most beautiful terraces overlooking the Tramuntana Mountains.
In Pollença, we recommend simply wandering through the historic centre before enjoying a traditional ensaïmada and coffee in Plaça Major, watching local life unfold before setting off towards Cap de Formentor or Lluc Monastery.

While many cyclists head directly for the mountains, the rolling countryside around Binissalem, Santa Maria del Camí and Consell offers some of Mallorca’s most peaceful riding. Quiet country roads weave through vineyards, olive groves and traditional fincas, creating the perfect setting for a relaxed day on the bike.
If you enjoy wine, don’t miss a tasting at Bodega Ribas, Mallorca’s oldest family winery, or Bodegas José L. Ferrer, one of the island’s best-known producers of native Mallorcan grape varieties. For a more contemporary experience, Bodega Macià Batle is another excellent stop while exploring Mallorca’s interior.
Where you stay shapes your experience of Mallorca just as much as the roads you ride. Rather than simply choosing convenient overnight stops, we’ve partnered with boutique hotels that reflect the i
sland’s elegance, hospitality and relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle.
Hotel Espléndido, Port de Sóller
Perfectly positioned between the sea and the Serra de Tramuntana, Hotel Espléndido is one of our favourite places to stay after exploring Mallorca’s legendary mountain roads. Relax beside the infinity pool overlooking the bay, stroll along the waterfront promenade or enjoy dinner as the sun sets behind the mountains. It’s the perfect base for discovering the spectacular MA-10, Deià, Valldemossa and Sa Calobra. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}
Can Aulí Luxury Retreat, Pollença
Hidden within the beautiful old town of Pollença, Can Aulí is an intimate adults-only retreat that perfectly reflects the style of journey we love to create. Contemporary luxury blends with traditional Mallorcan architecture, creating a peaceful sanctuary just minutes from some of the island’s finest cycling routes, including Cap de Formentor and Lluc Monastery.
Es Figueral Nou, Montuïri
Located in the heart of Mallorca, Es Figueral Nou offers a completely different perspective on the island. Surrounded by vineyards and rolling countryside, this beautifully restored eighteenth-century finca is the perfect place to discover Mallorca beyond the famous climbs. It’s also ideally positioned for rides through the island’s wine country and the panoramic ascent to the Sanctuary of Sant Salvador.

Absolutely. Although Mallorca is famous for legendary climbs such as Sa Calobra and Cap de Formentor, the island also offers rolling countryside, quiet coastal roads and gentle inland routes that are perfect for recreational cyclists. With premium e-bikes available, riders of different fitness levels can comfortably enjoy the same journey together.
The best months are generally March to May and September to November, when temperatures are comfortable, the roads are quieter and the scenery is at its most beautiful. Thanks to Mallorca’s Mediterranean climate, however, cycling is possible almost all year round.
Mallorca offers something for every cyclist. Riders looking for a challenge will love the climbs of the Serra de Tramuntana, while those seeking a more relaxed experience can enjoy scenic routes through vineyards, charming villages and along the Mediterranean coastline.
The island’s iconic rides include Sa Calobra, Cap de Formentor, the climb to Lluc Monastery and the spectacular MA-10 coastal road linking Port de Sóller, Deià and Valldemossa. We also recommend exploring Mallorca’s peaceful wine country and the panoramic climb to the Sanctuary of Sant Salvador.
That depends on the experience you’re looking for. Guided tours offer the support of experienced local guides, vehicle assistance and the opportunity to ride with like-minded cyclists. Self-guided tours provide greater flexibility while still including premium bikes, GPS navigation, luggage transfers and local support.
No. At Live Love Ride, we provide premium road bikes and e-bikes that are professionally prepared and fitted before your tour begins, allowing you to travel without the hassle of transporting your own bike.
Some of our favourite cycling bases include Port de Sóller, Pollença and Mallorca’s peaceful interior. On Best of Mallorca – Our Signature Journey, you’ll stay in carefully selected boutique hotels including Hotel Espléndido, Can Aulí Luxury Retreat and Es Figueral Nou, each chosen for its comfort, character and excellent location.
Road cycling is undoubtedly the island’s biggest attraction, but Mallorca is also an excellent destination for leisure cyclists, e-bike riders and travellers looking for an active holiday that combines cycling with gastronomy, culture and spectacular scenery.

At Live Love Ride, we believe the best cycling holidays are never only about the kilometres. That’s the philosophy behind Best of Mallorca – Our Signature Journey: bringing together world-class cycling, exceptional boutique hotels, authentic gastronomy and the experiences that make Mallorca one of Europe’s most unforgettable destinations.
