Pedro made us kings of the road

I chose to use Live Love Ride because at outset Pedro was interested in making sure he had given me all the necessary information to allow me to decide what to I wanted. Another firm's only personal touch was to keep asking for money - the rest of the time they just sent glossy pictures. This personal touch was followed through with a well thought out route with quite different hotels chosen for each night with excellent dinner venue recommendations. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic Experience!

We did the self-guided tour of Andalucía and had a perfect experience! My wife & I (visiting from US) needed a 7 day tour, mid-week in early December. Having Live Love Ride provide the bikes, routes, hotel arrangements and luggage shuttle was perfect. We're capable cyclists, so this format was perfect for this "off-season" adventure. The region was exciting and festive...even in December! The 60-90 km days with respectable climbing gave us 5-6 hours on the road and plenty of time in the destination villages/cities to explore and enjoy. I have directed numerous large-scale tours in the US, and give Ricardo & Live Love Ride my highest recommendation! We will return for another tour (Portugal or Mallorca) and we'll bring friends!

Cycling in Girona, Spain: Between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees

Cycling in Girona Spain, brings together a landscape shaped by mountains, sea and centuries of Catalan history…

Riders follow quiet backroads that naturally connect the Mediterranean coast with the first ridges of the Pyrenees. Smooth tarmac, consistent gradients and low traffic help explain why Girona became a world-class cycling hub long before it appeared in travel magazines.

Many professional cyclists have made Girona their home thanks to its mild weather, dependable training conditions and the variety of routes you can reach within a short ride.

From the coastal stretches near Costa Brava to the rolling farmland and vineyard roads around Empordà, the region offers terrain that suits every type of rider.

You might still be asking yourself, “Is Girona good for cycling?”

It really is! Few places offer this mix of:

  • Varied terrain;
  • Safe roads;
  • Respectful drivers;
  • Services built with cyclists in mind.

Along the way, medieval market towns give you easy places to have a break, and the forested climbs offer quieter stretches for anyone who enjoys settling into a steady rhythm.

Most months work well for cycling tours in Girona, but spring and fall tend to offer the best mix of clear skies and cooler temperatures. From March to June and again from September to November, you can count on steady conditions that make it easy to settle into Girona’s natural riding rhythm.

This versatility, combined with the region’s authentic Catalan culture, is a big part of why cycling around Girona leaves such a lasting impression on so many riders.

Why Cyclists Fall in Love with Girona

The connection many riders feel with Girona usually starts on the road... You can expect:

  • Smooth climbs;
  • Rolling valleys;
  • The kind of tarmac that makes long days feel natural;
  • Local cafés welcome cyclists without hesitation, so even a first-time visitor feels at ease.

Many of our riders mention how the region manages to mix challenge with comfort, and how riding some of the same routes used by professionals boosts their motivation.

Cycling in Girona combines scenery, culture and a pace of life that encourages you to slow down whenever you’re off the bike.

Another reason riders connect with Girona is how easy it is to plan around. You can:

  • Ride almost all year;
  • Count on steady weather;
  • Choose routes that change from mountain foothills to miradores along the coast in a single day.

For many travelers, the best Girona bike tours stand out not only for the quality of the riding but for the way the landscape stays with you long after the trip ends.

These climbs anchor the rhythm of Girona’s terrain, giving road bike riders a mix of effort and reward that feels unmistakably local.

Then the scenery shifts...
